In this land where horses rule, the Haras du Pin is now the oldest stud farm in France. Established by order of the Sun King, it has become a showcase for the equestrian arts and French horse breeds.
THE OH-SO-CHIC HARAS DU PIN
Its architecture alone makes it worth the visit, with its stables arranged in a horseshoe layout around a splendid main courtyard where VIP guests used to be hosted. Initally intended to give the Royal cavalry a boost, nowadays the stud farm and its horses and riders present a succession of equestrian shows and horse-starring performances. The result of patient, rigourous work in line with French tradition and elegance. Major events are also held at this site, including European eventing championships, national and international horse shows, pony & carriage competitions, the national Percheron show, and much more.
DAY OUT AT THE HARAS NATIONAL DU PIN
To explore the estate’s 1,000 hectares and enjoy the tranquil natural setting, you might opt for an Ebike ride. Three waymarked trails ranging from 5 to 10km follow the forest paths. Rent a bike, warm up your calf muscles (but don’t worry, it’s pretty flat around here), and set off for a taste of freedom. During your ride, you may come across horses and riders in training along the bridlepaths. Other activities are also available at the site, such as electric golf buggy rides or the inevitable first pony rides… Enough to awaken a calling…
